One Kind Radio:
The Coral Sea is composed of some of the most talented musicians, producing some of the best original sounds that I’ve come across in Independent music since I started covering it just over 15 years ago. Firelight, the bands sophomore release, is like capturing lightning in a bottle… and letting your senses taking in the brilliance in small doses with each track at a time. These boys could have Radiohead, The Verve, The Pixies, or any of the indie heavyweights open up for them… they are that damn good… so pick up the damn CD already!
The Coral Sea’s Firelight is album is a gem. What more can I say? Do you like Coldplay’s Viva La Vida? Well, this isn’t it. Did you like their older material? Great, because this is exactly what you’re getting. Powerful lyrics, backed up my an incredible sound. The only downfall is that this songs should’ve been 5 minutes. “Will capture your ears and heart, this album that you have to put on repeat.”
Its not very often that i come across a cd i really, REALLY enjoy, and i really enjoy The Coral Sea’s “Firelight”. Like “Absolution” Muse, mixed with some old Sunny Day Real Estate, cuddled up with some Sigor Ros. This album is a brilliant masterpiece that has the e potential to top a lot of “best of list this year. including mine. Go buy it!
I don’t think that I could come up with a better description for The Coral Sea than that one, especially with my extremely limited vocabulary of “awesome”, “amazing” and OCCASIONALLY “fabulous”. I just regret not listening to them more earlier. It was hard picking out just a few sample songs because every track from both of their albums albums - Volcano and Heart and Firelight - are just SO GOOD.
